Somehow one of the commentaries led me to a trip down memory lane reading about Goatse and the Stile Project from the early 2000s. I had (perhaps mercifully) forgotten about those markers of Web 1.0.

agreed that the term "NPC" is loaded with connotation. remembered this conversation I had a while ago with @dystopiabreaker. imho, technology is a lever, not a paleolithic crutch. yes, many qualia fall outside this, and there shouldn't be dehumanization of that. yet, there seems to be a luxury of time & opinion.
