What makes crypto the space that has generated so many global popup cities? Is it the first genuinely remote first industry? Other explanations?

I think it’s a very young industry where remote is accepted. Getting paid across countries is built into the platform. Density of people willing to try new things. I also think “running things together” is a core concept which translates well to shared structures like pop-up communities. @simonapop got some speculation to add?

Perhaps a longing for reconnection as well - the cultural aspect is very deeply present in our connections in this space (I’m speaking based on own experience here and definitely not easy to generalise) plus the current societal conditions are far from ideal so given the built in remoteness, the culture and the coop vibes that many embrace, it feels like a natural progression.
