People born in Canada all the way down to Argentina are, in fact, Americans.

The official demonym of somebody residing in the United States of America is in fact 'American'. How else would you call somebody living in the United States? For people living in Canada, the demonym is Canadian, etc, etc I think non-US people make this a *much* larger issue than it actually is.

Agree that people born in the USA are American. It's just that a subset has the same name as its superset. What most Americans don't get is that the superset, with the same name, exists, they even deny it.
