My hot take re "too much investment in infra": there's too much investment in *some kinds of infra* and not enough in others, and what's actually going on is, people want to invest in "the casino" but still feel good about themselves, so they invest in the subset of infra that gets spillover profits from the casino.

2H for Optimism will be adding more chains to the Superchain set, contributing revenue to the Optimism Collective, get other OP Stack chains to Stage 1, and begin interoperability across the Superchain. It’s going to be a fun second half of the year. Off to Brussels and hope to see some of you there!

The Superchain is sitting at about ~41% of all L2 transaction activity is incredible, according to GrowthePie -- they need to get Taiko and some others in here, but this is great progress for everyone building and contributing to the OP Stack. @optimism is dialed in!

Protip: you can come in to Brussels through Amsterdam. Passport control line in AMS is negligible (at least at 5AM, though I'm sure it's not too bad at other times either), and it's only a 2h train ride straight from the AMS airport to Brussels.

Is Ethereum today popular today because of the specific trilemma tradeoffs that were made, prioritizing decentralization and security above scalability (at least until L2s and sharding), or because of the community of developers and users that adopted Ethereum, for whom alternate blockchain architectures are not enough of an improvement to justify switching?

The new ETH client by @gakonst and @paradigm is live. All historical transactions (aka “archive node”) fit in just 2.3TB. Full node is 1.2TB. Syncing from genesis takes 50 hours.
