Skip Copacabana One of my favorite memories of Rio is listening to jazz at Rio Scenarium in Lapa district It's a sort of antique showroom that becomes a music venue at night

I’m Brazilian, been to Rio a few times as well, the safest place to stay is at Barra da Tijuca, far from the city though, but it’s the wealthy part, ultra safe. Ipanema is also great, usually it’s where celebrities stay when in Rio and it’s not that unsafe, and you are close to the heart of rio + most beautiful beach
