Heading to Rio de Janeiro in a month, any tips on where to stay/what neighbourhoods? 

Also, maybe Sao Paolo so any advice for that too would be appreciated 🤗

I’m Brazilian, been to Rio a few times as well, the safest place to stay is at Barra da Tijuca, far from the city though, but it’s the wealthy part, ultra safe. Ipanema is also great, usually it’s where celebrities stay when in Rio and it’s not that unsafe, and you are close to the heart of rio + most beautiful beach

Make sure to visit Copacabana, you can’t go to Rio and not visit it, or going to see Christ the redeemer. Avoid going to the favelas if you are not with someone you trust or a guide, even with a guide I would be aware
