One of the complaints that I hear A LOT is “The OG casters just ignore anyone who’s not in their circle. This leads to resentment for some people. 

But I wanted to share a different perspective. You don’t need to get a response. Instead, focus on finding friends that you can grow together with.

In short, don’t worry about the current OGs. Make your own!

New feed algorithm adjustment idea: boost casters who reply more 

Because it sucks writing out a thoughtful reply only to be completely ignored, and this is definitely a thing I've noticed with some people.

Personally I'm keeping track of those big accounts that have ignored my (thoughtful) replies multiple times, even when they are asking questions, etc. And just slowly starting to reply less and less. I understand people are busy but there's some that clearly never reply unless it is to another "OG".

I'm saying keep the current algo but add a little boost based on how likely the caster is to engage back with you, should you comment... I guess part of the issue is most people lurk, and the algo is tuned towards that kind of engagement (views, maybe reactions) and less so towards replies

well i think they look at your casts to determine who gets the boosts

would they have to start checking comments to determine who deserves it?
i feel it’s what you cast that they want seen by more people, not replies

Oh I just needed an excuse to procrastinate 😅 It turns out your metric is surprisingly good, to me at least. Hard to prove it with all the bots making noise in the data, but I think you're onto something...

this is a great idea and i agree it sucks to write out something thoughtful only to get zero response, doesn’t feel good.

also the OG cast was more referencing larger, more established accounts than new ones. my bad for making it too generalized.

Oh yeah, I don't expect everybody to reply everytime - and I know the priority mode on WC does weird stuff! That's why I think it's important to establish what's normal and the look for the outliers and publicly shame them.

Just kidding on the last part.

Although I'm getting the idea for a GoT shame GIF with the users avatar if they're an outlier...

So I think the algorithm already handles spammy people. I'm saying after it's done that, give a boost on the feed to people who reply more. (And this statistic would factor your followers into account i.e. I don't expect Dan's reply rate to be as high as mine given his 20x more followers.)

imo, that would be opening Pandora’s box because for every thoughtful replier like yourself, there’s 100s of nonsense repliers regurgitating a chatgpt response, begging for tips, farming moxie, etc.

That would be great. This happens a lot of time. Some casters are not interested in replying. They just want to collect replies. This is not a conversation or exchange.
