Hey Tom, first time reader here. Thanks for your thoughtful piece. I think one useful analogy for curator is "moderator". Although these roles are not exactly similar, a moderator, like a curator, understands the cultural milieu of their community and can take various actions like recommending and removing posts. Separately, I stumbled upon this article — it talks about the same problem but without the "crypto-twist". I think it's worth a read for anyone who enjoyed your post :) https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/future-creation-curation-gavin-guidry-jatte/ Thanks again for your writing!

I think heavily worked pieces are more for personal development. I end up researching a bunch and then through the process learn a lot about myself.

This visually captures the essence of my cast from yesterday about sharpening/refining newsletter posts (and casts) haha

I'm starting to think that casting is similar to writing a newsletter post, in the sense that you don't want to write a boring cast. Just like you don't want to write a boring newsletter post. So you need to play with ideas until they resonate and feel "right", in whatever subjective form "right" takes on for you. This takes time, revision, and frustration.

I enjoyed reading your post simon :) This sentence in particular resonated with me: "Granted, both of those drafts were written during NaNoWriMo, so the goal was to get it done in a month versus writing something good."

Nice! I think I'm having trouble with mine. Been a month and I don't see a cucumber yet. How long did it take for you?

It takes me 3,4..even 5x more time to write my newsletter than I think it will because I start to dig into so many rabbit holes: the history, the sociology, the tech piece, and on and on. I guess it's both good and bad, but a sticky habit to shake off nonetheless.

Ya. It makes me think about a paper that transformed how I interacted with Twitter: "How Twitter Gamifies Communication." One of the paper's core ideas is that you need to understand who is playing what game on Twitter. I imagine this could be a helpful lens for Farcaster too :) https://philarchive.org/rec/NGUHTG
