incentivizing people to mint your art in exchange for $DEGEN tip thereby increasing your allowance & doing this on repeat ain’t it. you are either preying on people who need money or incentivizing people who only care about money. not sure what sort of power trip people are getting out of this. disappointing to see.

things like this is why being in the nft twitter bubble made it so difficult for me to want to stay. please don’t bring these games to farcaster. this place is special in a lot of different ways and is more than $DEGEN tipping games 😞

this also sets a very wrong precedent of people expecting rewards($DEGEN) for art that is already free to mint or has minimal mint fee. artists are supposed to get paid. collectors of your are should be tipping YOU to collect your art. 🤧

Really depends for me on the sentiment.. I minted a meme I made w a bot and gave people 1k degen to mint it. Not going to do that w my actual artwork, though tbh it’s not something I hate on. People gotta eat rn & not all of us have a collector base that will mint just bc they like the art so incentivizing is fine.

This space moves incredibly fast. I can see your point and it’s good to be vocal about it. As space, do we want to go down this path? I don’t think we should. I tipped as a thank you to those that minted my free edition. But in the end artists can do what they want, there’s no rules here.

Playing devils advocate here, but your last cast sent 8 people 69k tip because they collected ur token on Dracula. Whether the tip comes before or after, you’re incentivizing people to collect art (or tokens) by using this tipping mechanism. This isn’t preying on anybody but a means to drive attention to ur cause.

Someone (I can’t remember who) recently described the DEGEN tipping allowance as free marketing funds for artists. It helps get eyes on art that would otherwise go unseen. In some ways, that’s a really good thing, but I can understand how it cuts both ways.

I support your point; it's a shame it has come to this and art should be taken seriously because by constantly lowering the bar, it will become increasingly difficult to make a living from one's creations. But I understand people who take shortcuts as well. Let's remain tolerant; we don't know everyone's realities

yeah, definitely not the direction I was hoping tipping would go and doesn't make for a great platform to onboard others (just looks incredibly spammy), but makes total sense and I respect the grind at the same time, I'd rather just share my art and hope people vibe with it enough to support, to each their own

I’m not in on the nft scene, but it’s just a matter of time until people start withholding sharing advice until they get tipped (fitness forum for example). The free sharing of thoughts here is going to become pay to play.

You're pointing out here the human nature of wanting to get rich without doing anything. Unfortunately, no matter where we are, this will exist. I don't think we should give them so much importance because I'm convinced that in the end, the artists who build without resorting to shortcuts and tricks will do just fine
