In cases where you can identify (or maybe sort of identify) the conditions that are causing the bad mood/thoughts, creatively visualize a worse version of the scenario. Kind of a play on the framing effect. 🧠 happy relative to the worse (but not real) scenario. Dali Lama put it: "look down, not up"

All the way to "death" visualisation is an extreme end of the pole to push it to (although I'm a fan of that too) ...apparently a Tibetan buddhist practice was to literally meditate with the corpse at an extended funeral while it decomposed. "extreme sports" version but would totally drive the point home 🫠😂
