My expectation is that the social security payment I make every month to the government will round down to $0 by the time I'm ready to receive it. Sad but true. At this point, I associate anything associated with government with waste & incompetence, with rare exceptions by people who work very hard to make it so.

Had a big discussion about this with my mother in law. TL;DR framing it as “subsidizing unsustainable boomer lifestyles” doesn’t land well. :)

Agree about planning to NOT get social security even though we’ve been paying in. When discussing with my boomer dad, he was very defensive about “well I paid into my *own account* over the years” Not really, my generation is paying for yours…
