There is an article floating around from 2008 published by a reputable newspaper about how the USA might split because of the recession Functions as a good reminder

One of the best things I ever did was drop cynicism. Still not deluded, but I serve a much better master.

Postmodernism has become a tool for trivializing everything. This is just my opinion, and it's a bit harsh. I won't censor myself from expressing this view, even though many people may not like to hear it ;)

In Finland, we have this saying that pessimist(i ei piety), which means pessimists will not get disappointed. I'd rather be disappointed sometimes than a pessimist tho.

In the psychology of money There's also the part where being pessimistic helps, especially in things like stocks Too optimistic could cause a problem too

I often see people like this... and hate it... people who want 'results' without trying harder... or people who are afraid of failing, so they never try to do it...

Irony, cynicism, and their close companion nihilism often feel intrinsic to youth, particularly for those under 30. I used to be an utter cynic back in the day, too. But then you somehow realize how narrowly you see the world, how many more nuances there are to it, and how many more meanings there are beyond simple negating and denial (especially when it's about very simple values, which are actually the core values). And that is when you truly begin to live and enjoy your life. No amount of irony can shatter your growing wisdom after that.
