Been here for a bit less than a year, but never knew about this great way to introduce myself! I’m a freelance translator specializing in audiovisual content (yep, I get to be among the first to watch new movies and series). I’ve tried a few business ideas — like selling clothes online (which turned into flipping a social media page for cash) and even built a prototype for a baby stroller with a kick scooter part. Still figuring out my entrepreneurial path, but I love building ideas! Right now, I’m enjoying the balance of work, family, and personal time, while brainstorming a new project. I also love working with my hands, whether renovating furniture or baking something delicious. I’m here to connect with great people (which I’ve found a lot of!), dive into inspiring conversations and ideas, and explore niche communities, especially dedicated to freelancing, self-employment, and new business ideas. everyone wants to be the freelancer who’s off on a random tuesday what they don’t see is the other side of it like me subtitling 70 min of video runtime over the weekend (while the industry norm is 15 min per day) and now staring down 210 more in the next 4 days freelancer life is cute until it melts your brain just me, my laptop, and… usually I'd put dozens cups of coffee here. but since I don't drink it anymore, just gallons of tea and water with lots of sweets we’ll make it… probably

day 2 of working on this cheerleader show and i officially have a headache from trying to decode their vocal fry every convo is like “well i just kinda… like… felt this kinda way??” and they use 37 words just to say “i was scared” or “i had to work harder”

when people find out I'm a subtitle translator, they often ask what my fave project was I'd say there were many of them but Larva Island was quite an outstanding one barely any dialogue, maybe 2 words per episode rest was just grunts, farts, chaos (all of that is not subtitled ofc) but we got paid by runtime, not volume and it was a rush job too so yeah... got paid extra to listen to worm noises no complaints whatsoever 💸💛

this cast by Daniel reminded me of a wonderful thought I came across somewhere online I couldn't find the exact quote so it's just what I remember "when your kid leaves home, you don’t just lose them you lose the baby you rocked to sleep, you lose the little kid who made you messy drawings, you lose the teen who rolled their eyes and slammed doors you lose them all at once that is why it hurts so much" and when you realize that, you start cherishing every moment together so much more
