We dreamed of solving sharding. We wanted to have daily encrypted mempools. We have tried to reach for the sky and build a multidimensional gas market. Now it's 2024 and every third project is building an airdrop eligibility checker.

We’re along the way for sharding and now have different gas market for blobs vs calldata… not so bad i think?

Shards are not secured by a multsig πŸ™ƒ jk aside, so it depends on the original vision and definition of sharding, but having a smooth cross-shards communication is something that rollups don't offer and LayerZero is just a patch for it.

Temporary issue of higher latency - async comms are not meaningfully different between rollups and shards Ethereum will have a free market version of XCMP that doesn’t require using a 2/2 multisig (LayerZero)
