Engelbart still remains an inspiration! I guess in evolutionary phase-space something's are destined never to evolve for a good reason? It always amazes me that among all interfacing technologies, the humble mouse has remained pretty much unchanged since its initial inception while other aspects of computing have evolved exponentially. The mouse, then, is the trilobite of the computer epoch.

I like the psychoanalysis idea. 😅

The irony is, Engelbart never intended for the mouse to be the end goal, for him it was the start of the conversation about possible human computer interaction.
