GM... What's everyone up to today? I am preparing my next mint on @rodeodotclub. "Starry Night over Amber Lake" is next in the Emotional Landscape Series, #003. When should I mint this? Story: I was shooting the Big Dipper when a fog bank rolled across Amber Lake in the Catskill Mountains. I noticed the fog was glowing like a desaturated rainbow, my first "fog bow"! I edited this image 10x over the past two years. Never quite happy with the final image or the idea behind the image. Recently, I saw Starry Night Over the Rhône by van Gogh. I immediately knew what I was after in my image and the idea behind it. van Gogh was inspired by nature, the night sky (the Big Dipper), and the reflective glow of the river. I share those fascinations. Details I'm focused on in this image: Rolling fog reflecting moonlight, producing a "fog bow" or white rainbow. The Big Dipper directly above the fogbow The fogbow's reflection on the lake Lily pads in the foreground and the Lakehouse lights, giving this image depth.

I love the way in which Base Colors is different from memecoins. Memecoins are hot now, yes, and I'm sure they will continue to be, with sharp rises and steep falls, multi-month peaks and multi-year valleys, 99% of them fizzling out to practically zero, many of them retaining multi-billion dollar market caps. With memecoins you rip a clip and can invest however much you want, provided sufficient liquidity, in seconds. Not the case with Base Colors. Even if you could, it wouldn't be the ideal strategy. Base Colors rewards thoughtful time spent. ~28K colors minted and still there are countless amazing colors and color names available. There's no guarantee how these onchain colors are valued in the future, but it is reasonable to assume #FFFFFF "white" will be worth more than #0713EE "niceskyblue24", and there is spectrum between those extremes which contains every color on the internet, each with a 1/1 name. It feels good to work on something so opposite the meta.
