I’ve minted one thing since the base adoption and it’s annoying crypto centric steps continue to make me care less. I don’t want more crypto, I want less

Free = 0
Not free = > 0 

A year ago this was expected because new, a year later and now there are more steps makes it less usable to your average

Totally. There are a few ways to solve it, all I know is they must be applied because as a user taking 3 steps where each step changes the costs and then you add additional manual labor steps of bridging assets is a strong nope.

Zora should add functionality to mint and bridge at the same time

Wouldn't have solved the cost issue but you wouldn't have seen any errors which is equally as frustrating IMO

Which user hat do I put on?

As a normal user: does it matter, the experience sucks and this is supposedly good

As a crypto user: Zora should calibrate me to the final price in the first step and then get rid of 3 views of different sub totals.

As me: I don’t get why base exists, bridging for gas alone sucks

Tbf I would mint this for $14. I won’t mint it for $14 after being told first free, then .002 eth, then .008+ and the part that offends me as a user is the progressive price change + then get to the end and there’s extra labor

As a user I don’t want to know or think about any of these. I want the thing I came here for, a neat picture of farcaster stuffs

on the contrary, i am frustrated with Zora and not Base. i would rather any artist use the Base network instead of the Zora network as my Base ETH and Base USDC is more interoperable with the rest of the app ecosystem.

I want eth on eth, I’m going to leave it there. My USDC I can already burn on one chain and mint on another. My money moves quasi fluidly now, why do I need to complicate another asset to do this?

For me, it was bridging ETH back from Base — that was such a horrible experience that I never touched Base ever again after.

For me, it doesn’t help. My principal being violated is crypto looked around and instead of building usability was like fuck it let’s build another chain to compete with 5 other valid options already deployed. 

What necessary functionality did base add that I couldn’t already get on polygon or base?

I get this, but depressing to read as an artist for whom the low gas is freeing & transformative. 

How about: anyone who wants to mint my stuff and doesn’t want to use base - dm me and I’ll airdrop and you can send eth. How does that sound?

Yeah this sort of experience is perfectly reasonable when you’re making the first L2 and you haven’t released to mainnet. I don’t understand why it’s happening on a chain that’s on mainnet, the goal is usability, and it’s not a novel chain it’s just another clone (it might not be but what is value prop?)

It’s a very annoying UX. I also hate when you’re bridging and you hit MAX you get hit with an error because it doesn’t account for the transaction fee.

I mean obviously I want to bridge all my funds minus the fee.

I’m being a normal user. I see a requirement to bridge because base and its causing the price to change due to the transactional requirements. Yes the ux from Zora could also be improved

bc we use a relayer & polygon and cover the gas 

we can do free + gas also on any EVM but the best is when it’s truly free to the end user

Gas estimation is completely broken on base. It is impossible to even transfer the full balance… cringe af
