Wouldn't have solved the cost issue but you wouldn't have seen any errors which is equally as frustrating IMO

Totally. There are a few ways to solve it, all I know is they must be applied because as a user taking 3 steps where each step changes the costs and then you add additional manual labor steps of bridging assets is a strong nope.
