Two state solution hasn’t worked for a ton of reasons but main ones might be that West Bank is too strategically/religiously important for Israel to un-occupy w/o guaranteed peace (like we did with Gaza) and Gaza isn’t large enough to be a country (resource-wise).

why hasn’t a two state solution worked?

I do but that’s the exception in Israel. I went to an international school, involved in tech, generally culturally open-minded

It’s more common in Tel Aviv/Yafo and very common in cities like Haifa, but other parts of Israel less so. Some small villages are purposely mixed

There’s always a chance. 70% of Gazans would like the Palestinian Authority to take over. They’re not perfect but generally civil.
If they formed a democracy, it’d be the single greatest step towards peace we could collectively take. Not sure Netanyahu actually wants it.

I do think the focus hasn’t been enough on the hostages and that Israel may go too far in the West Bank which will do more harm than good. 

Granted retaliating was always on the cards after the Hamas strike but do you think Israel's retaliations this time have gone out of hand and that it will ultimately do more harm than good in the aftermath?

It was generally pretty strict and kept to when I served. Hard to accomplish well in guerrilla warfare when the opponent is hiding among civilians. That’s why the US killed 100-200k Iraqi civilians. 

That being said, I think today’s gov/army in Israel is adhering to this less

Ground op: infantry, tanks, artillery, intelligence units by foot/vehicle. <10k soldiers if not much more 

Lots of Palestinians will die sadly, decent amount of Israeli soldiers will too. 

The emphasis will be on getting back the hostages. But having so many is extremely new

I think it could do better, but it’s very very difficult and completely unprecedented by any war standards. The US killed >100k Iraqi civilians. War is ugly. 

I also don’t consider this situation a genocide, respectfully. 

While what Hamas did was completely wrong, Israeli response to the civilians isn't anything less than genocide. While it is priority to remove Hamas, civilians are treated like animals. Humanitarian efforts can't be done in a week's notice. Do you think Israel can do better in terms of not harming civilians?
