I don't understand the argument that crypto solves the problem of verifying real vs AI-generated content. how exactly does crypto help here? genuinely curious

The year is 2035, 80% of videos on YouTube are deepfakes. POTUS "saying" all kinds of stuff they don't say. A video appears that's signed by POTUS.eth, which is an actual Eth address controlled by the White House. You watch the signed video, knowing it's real, knowing it's not deepfaked by some actor.

iirc there are web apps like the kzg ceremony and parts of the brave browser that handle cursor movement. besides, what if AI isn't the problem, but the complement to a preexisting hashing algorithm for output, curated by casters? real content can be verified in many CG-resistant ways.

digital cameras can sign raw pictures. You can proove in zero knowledge all the transformations, post processing, derivation of that picture (even AI based) up until it is published.

Creators mint their content upon creation, proving that their content is real and attributable to a human (or at least the creatorโ€™s wallet). Doesnโ€™t actually prove that the content itself isnโ€™t AI generated, but does carry at least some level of attribution

cryptography lets you sign messages to verify that you are the owner of the private keys associated with your public identity. in the future, we may require any content to have an associated signature from a verified source otherwise it will be treated as false

Would you define WorldCoin or proof of humanity as an instantiation of crypto?

Hardware/Software used to create media can write to a blockchain proof that is is โ€œgenuineโ€ and not AI
