anyone dealt with hate online? i experienced my first wave of haters (a jealous competitor tweeted about us 😅) - some were terrible but my favorites ones called my app “a parody” and that i’m an “unserious sunshine barbie”. i’ve processed everything and am ok, but curious how you all deal with it?

I know easier said than done but what's helped me is realizing mean spirited comments like that says more about that person than anything about yourself / what you're doing so just ignore, mute, etc

Sorry to hear you’re going through that. You clearly live rent free in their head 🤪 One of our core values is that we *never* underestimate our competitor. This keeps us on our toes too. Your competitor doesn’t hold these values, so don’t worry about them. They’re too busy hating and not building 💫

Sorry to hear you’re going through that, but ultimately it means you’re probably doing something right. I echo the other sentiments of either ignoring it or leaning into it to show confidence (depends on how your industry and how much you like conflict) But seriously…

best is to not respond, free marketing etc. but sometimes you have to, like recent Brex vs Ramp https://twitter.com/hdubugras/status/1745514274326220957

often! i give space to myself to deal with the immediate emotional reaction, and after that just realize that it's far easier to critique than it is to build and not give them any of my precious attention or oxygen

It’s just the beginning. I’ve learned that those that spew hate aren’t targeting you specifically. They’re folks that will target literally everyone. Insane pattern. Once I learned that, I just felt sorry for those spewing hate. It’s not you, it’s them.

It’s part of the journey, and like a lot of other folks said, it probably means you’re doing something right Reminds me of “winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners”

After a few times it becomes obvious the whole cycle of anger is a waste of energy and time. I don’t know if there’s a shortcut.
