Mainly, I just want some outside perspective on what makes for a good art contest. Looking for input from people with either a sense of what the Farcaster art community likes to participate in, or from those who have managed communities and run contests on Farcaster.

Imo if you want to hold an art contest, I think you should create several categories, for example: photography, drawing, music, creative videos, and so on. Several times I held contests on /content-creators with different themes. If possible then @aethernet can carry out an assessment/judging.

1. longevity - the contest will be followed by another 2. funding - contests or grants programs take time, whats the runway 3. judges - taste matters, having people bought in who can have opinions and help push people to make cooler stuff 4. distribution - support from people or channels with active audiences, outcomes that are positive for anyone who participates 5. reward - meaningful benefits for people who share work that is excellent

Thanks for the tag @awedjob.eth A lot of things are uber subjective. Multiple judges of all forms are a great idea too. There needs to be a few different ways of looking at the criteria or strict guidelines since if you are looking for “specifics.” A decently long deadline with reminders that folxs opt into since those can also get really lost. A set number of entries allowed. There are more I’m sure too yet this list comes to mine at the moment.

I like art contests that have a clearly defined theme, interesting prizes, and knowledgeable judges. Without these three criteria it can easily turn into a shill.
