Technically speaking any vote for Biden in the primary was also cast for Harris. So she’s not unelected.

She was elected as VP in 2020. Voters were aware that if needed, she would take Joe's place. Has she not been held accountable throughout her career in politics? She was elected through the process set up by the DNC, a private party. Real 'Democracy' takes place in November, if voters don't like her, she won't win.

She’s gonna do them though, she will have to. It’s just strategy to extend the initial excitement. In today’s extra partisan political climate, no one can really win by taking press conferences. She’s gonna debate and she will also do interviews and press conferences
