Absolutely insane photos from a plane crash today at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The flight was the from the U.S., adding to the steady drumbeat of plane crashes that have taken place over the past few weeks for some reason. I fly there a lot so it is jarring to see this. One has to wonder whether any of this has to do with governance dysfunction and mass layoffs now taking place in the U.S.

It's absolutely the result of the government disfunction. Training for both air traffic controllers and pilots takes hundreds of hours and they were already alarmingly short-staffed. Any staffing disruption was going to be devestating.
