People used to tip me in Degen, but now they tip me in Farther or Ham or other random things like that. I’m still learning what this stuff means but is there a particular reason for such shifts? Curious.

Degen is losing a lot of fans right now because of issues with how allocations were determined this season. 1 person is currently bringing in 2% of all degen tips by creating 10+ accounts with max allocations and tipping it all to himself. This is discouraging to the community and many are choosing different tokens to support. Ham might be low value today, but @deployer is one of the hardest working people in this space. It will do well because he has a vision where degen seems to be lacking vision and direction right now. (I hope this changes)

personally find it hard to pay attention to the other tokens due to the lack of tangible value being transferred a random tip worth $0.0000001 feels more like an ad than a show of appreciation

$DEGEN was the OG token for rewarding content creation. Then there were spinoffs including /lp (Ham) by @deployer and /farther. Each have their pros and cons. If you plan on choosing one, worth doing some research. I stick to $DEGEN personally bc of its story, visibility, and ease of use.

degen tip allocation changes month-to-month. This month changed quite a bit so those that had allocation may not anymore. Ham and father are other tip programs, so if someone didn’t get a degen allowance they may tip you in another token

Some people may want to tip you in degen but simply do not have the allo. So they try to give what they can. That said. I’ll empty the tank out 9 $degen

Various opportunity costs Sometimes its cheaper for others to spend X amount to get Y allowance on Y project rather than Degen now Degen was the pioneer but a lot of projects have followed suit

I think degen is essentially becoming more "scarce" as it requires holding more now to have a decent tip allocation. Other tokens came along to fill the void for those who want to tip but don't have the requisite degen holdings. I don't begrudge them that, but degen is the OG 😆 150 $degen

Degen already had a big spike and crash in price. People are tipping the other ones hoping they have their own jumps in price. At least that's my theory. 100 $degen

The tipping meta here is constantly evolving. Degen is currently the dominant project, and the way they have allocated their tips to participants has evolved over time. They just moved from a largely proof of work model (a social score was used to calculate allowance allocation) to a proof of stake (you have to stake degen in a vault for the majority of the allowance allocation). So people who weren't able to afford staking degen have had to move on to other tokens. It is a large ecosystem, as you have learned, and there are plenty of different models out there to play with.
