If your only goal is to gain raw information books are probably not most efficient method. But I find books teach things more profoundly and also inculcate a certain type of thinking. If I don’t read for a weeks I feel my mind starts going slack and I can’t imagine never reading.

I read quite a lot, every day. but among fiction and non-fiction books, I always have a “brain gum” book just to distract myself. very often these are some kind stories where you don’t have to get 100% involved in every word and phrase.

The value of the long read is the journey to the info and all the extra context you can add. The story behind the facts is often what makes it memorable, unless there are some bonkers facts
