@martin
can anyone explain how Story would even do this? what is “lower transaction costs for using IP?” considering the current cost is 0 “imagine if studio Ghibli were paid 10 cents for every generation” By who? How?

they cant. not for anything retroactive of this scale which is most of the things relevant culturally. the only way its possible is if story becomes defacto registry engine for IP ownership and copyright enforcement. so currently its hopes and prayers and future “deep” incentivized adoption.

Great question I’m curious to know the answer to it too. This feels like such a common “crypto solves this” take but isn’t specific about how

Well technically not zero if they get sued and have lawyer fees, bad publicity, and damages. Not sure how to get to 10c but pretty sure there has to be some remuneration for training on my data and possibly for inferencing against it too…complicated stuff but reverse incentivizing the creation of original art isn’t good long term.

openai should pay per image used in the trained model instead users paying for generating imo

I’m not sure if I understand what you’re asking @Martin but, I have read extensively and thought about the story protocol. The cost is not zero today. Most likely open AI will be sued next week by studio Ghibli for both copyright and trademark violations. Studio protocol makes it easy for people to license content with a smart contract. Creators put their product in a marketplace with their IP rights and license fees. You, the producer see something that you need for a movie you’re making or a soundtrack or something and you can legally acquire it and then you have a complete product with all rights and clearances. I read that Drake has turned his voice into an AI and is now making more money from the licensing fees of his voice to sing other people songs then he made on any royalties of his own recordings. I haven’t verified that, but I did read it.
