Is it the idea or the person? 24 hours ago @balajis.eth suggested using mods and NFTs to enhance Farcaster. A mere mention and now there’s a live working group motivated to tackle it. If a rando shared it, would it have inspired so much action? Probably not. The true effect of “influencers”. We are influenced.

100% I can relate to this. How many times did I say something and no one paid attention. A few days / weeks / months later, someone with a bigger following says it and everyone is amazed. However, it makes sense in some way. Bigger following means credibility, I guess.

I feel you need to have this deep conviction in your ideas, no matter what influencer says for or against your product. Then you have to believe you can build better than everyone else. At the end of the day they’re just ideas, those influencers aren’t acting on it, and you’re the one building it.

I don’t view it as either/or. People are idea conductors, and some people have more conductor capacity than others. This capacity to conduct is a function of both the idea’s potency and the person’s reach/influence.

why do we call people who say nothing of substance influencers? not talking about balaji... but rather, people with a large following that's all quantity over quality, who say nothing of substance influence & influencer seem to be two different things

One other thing: lens is already doing some of the things that Balaji suggested, minus the mods part. So the idea is not new (and it does not need to be), but it proves what you said.
