I think we need to go back to allow fid + user registration without paying for storage. IMO the identity piece is the most interesting part about FC and that should be as accessible as possible. Most FC-adjacent apps won't actually need the rest of the stuff (casts, reactions, etc) Simplifies it for app backends as well: 1. They can immediately onboard users to FC as their identity system (just pay for gas) 2. Use the protocol without broadcasting messages 3. If the user wants to reach the rest of the network, user/app can pay storage and immediately broadcast those messages The part to figure out is the reason it went away in the first place - spam registrations. This is solvable though.

"Merkle just helps its friends" How many times do I have to repeat that most users and developers on Farcaster did not know Varun or myself prior to joining Farcaster. And in some cases have *become* friends because they stuck around early on when no one else cared. We've spent years with this people socializing on this social network. :) Don't conflate something that's earned / built with cronyism.

❗Announcement❗ In an unfortunate turn of events, myself & @nikdmello.eth will no longer be working with the /9to5 project. Yesterday, it came to our attention that 2 members of the core team did the unthinkable and sold 50M tokens into the only positive catalyst we’ve had in months - the Base Ventures DAO buy in. @mjfunds & @foreigngods sold their tokens in secret, tried to hide the fact when confronted, and then justified their actions by saying “devs do it all the time”. In addition to this, it has also come to our attention that @mjfunds rugged 2 other WAGMI launches that he promoted to various /9to5 holders. (Evidence here: https://x.com/ans4tsu/status/1815523149003272226?s=46) I will not work with a project that does this to its holders. While encouraging all of us to buy, they were planning to sell into us. They used all of us and Base Ventures for some exit liquidity.
