What are your thoughts on naming? Has a bit of a debate this week because we needed to rename our company due to a potential legal conflict. How much do you think name influences on outcomes of consumer products?

It depends on whether the consumer touchpoint is primarily physical or digital — if the former, naming matters a lot because you don't have enough opportunities to communicate the change effectively and could lose or confused customers. Digital first, renaming matters very little, products do it all the time

naming influences a lot; the hard part is having an impact on the industry it's also really important to embrace changes in the future. New rebranding might come, and it's not necessarily a bad thing crafting "THE SLOGAN" or "THE NAME" is challenging. These will evolve as the product does

i think it matters less in B2C than B2B. B2C there are countless examples of successful brands built around pretty much any style of name. as long as you avoid pitfalls (hard to spell, IP conflict, handle squatters on socials etc.) it's fine. B2B harder, needs to pass the "boss" test. still matter less than ppl think.
