Listened to a podcast that said it's easier to quote tweet and shame people for old tweets since a tweet from 10 yrs ago looks the same as it does today (same format) Would be interesting if there was visual "aging" of content online so it's easier to showcase that people's ideas / thoughts can change over time

I'm a big believer in auto-deleting online content as a default (unless it's specifically intended to be permanent)

Great observation. A bit like using emojis to substitute for lack of facial expressions online.

content immediately starts decaying the second it’s posted. the more time passes, the more irrelevant

One nice touch along these lines I’ve always appreciated is NYT meta images https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/upshot/buy-rent-calculator.html “Published 2018” all over before you click

great point seeing a picture of clueless adolescent next to the text vs them as they are now next to a stupid thing someone said as a teen would help alleviate that class of outrage reporting

There’s probably a lot of design space for giving more context to tweets via visual cues. Could frame style/tone/type/age…

remembering that tweet of someone selling all their BTC for like 30 cents... probably the most quoted tweet on CT lol! but if that person didn't delete it, they don't mind I guess?
