It was on this day, 8 years ago that I was woken up by @thegrifft's call telling me that our creation, the DAO, was being drained. That started the most stressful summer of my life, with hacking, forking, counter-hacking. For better or for worse that summer changed ethereum forever.

That event has been such a defining moment for Ethereum ever since (and we still get FUD to this day for the decision to fork). I had some of my own ETH stuck in the DAO but was wary of forking precisely because of the long lasting implications. Also, I can’t believe it’s been eight years already! 1000 $DEGEN

Ya'll handled it like absolute champs. Christoph had a talk at Devcon II. I remember thinking, wow, this guy has balls getting up here after getting hacked $150m. The pressure! He handled it with such grace and humility. It was a beautiful public apology 🥲

I came to know you first from the fantastic book by Matthew Leising. Yes, The DAO events changed Ethereum forever. The Future was broken in 2008, June 2016 and 2024. Ethereum has changed for the better future. Hard Fork had shown the silent majority's power in the decentralisation theatre.
