"When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the haters I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They cannot help the fact that they were born fucked up! But I have seen the beauty of good, and every time I speak of the haters and losers I do so with great love and affection." — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

Before starting Sprout, I asked many friends for their thoughts on the idea. I quickly realized—giving compliments is easy, but telling the truth is hard. My friends usually fell into two groups: 1. Those who supported me no matter what and helped me build the project. 2. Those who told me exactly what they thought—even if it might dampen my enthusiasm. I cherish both. I turned the first group into my co-founders, partners, angel investors, and comrades. And the second group into my advisors—seeking their honest feedback at every stage. People who are willing to push you and tell you the truth are worth cherishing forever.

The conversation around this has been really interesting. IMO the answer isn’t as simple as “make the front end decentralized.” I think that’s part of it, but there’s so many layers between when code is committed to when it’s interacted with by a user. In web2 there were cases of domains being deceptive and just visiting a site wasn’t secure, so HTTP and SSL was implemented to verify the authenticity of a domain name with the IP associated. We’re now getting to a point where we need a verification mechanism that becomes part of the every day web. Users today experience the benefits of HTTPS without evening knowing what it is; we need the same for blockchain apps
