Web2 gamers are won over via their hearts, not their wallets. How about just shipping a fun game instead of “vampire attacking”? Even the daily terminology we flippantly repeat in Web3 is super cringe for Web2 users. The road to mass adoption is paved by good intentions, not bribery nor theft.

It is crazy how few people building inside the blockchain & web3 gaming space actually understands this. Like, it boggles my mind.

No hard data to back it, but many of the takes I saw from people that don’t understand it aren’t gamers or the last game they played was probably something from the 8-bit/16-bit era (might explain all the pixelart web3 games). Forever falling into the “tokenomics first, gameplay/worldbuilding second” trap.

Web3 needs more gamers over speculators for sure!

Honestly, I don't even think that's necessary. But what it needs is a shift in how speculators take part in those tokens and how the tokens then are used. Something more equity-like (still on-chain) for example. Doesn't have to be completely out of the game(s) ecosystem(s) - but should be properly thought through.
