One more. Reminded again this morning of this: give up control. Ride the wave. The more you try to exert rigid control over the situation (and the kid) the more you will drive yourself crazy.

White noise machines. Get good with a swaddle. Baby pjs with magnetic snaps. Enjoy the infant poops, they get way crazier when you switch to solid foods. (The sleep isn’t as bad as everyone says if you keep a positive mindset)

Carry your favorite snack/food, media (TV show/movies/music/book), and charging cables for all devices. I tried to put it all in my hospital bag and kept it in my car earlier than expected date. Came in handy!

There is no such thing as 50/50, just survival and helping each other! When you can, sleep as much as possible (blackout curtains/ac up) -Build up a 'to watch' list for those dead hours in the am when it's your turn -noise machine -dr. brown's baby bottles GL 🫡 Exciting times!!

Be prepared to relax whatever requirements you are setting for yourselves and your baby. No screens for the first X years of life? Good rule of thumb, but consider relaxing e.g. on long trips. No sweets/sugar until X age? What if grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends, do not follow the rules? Bad vibes ensue. Etc.

Take videos often, even of the routine mundane stuff. It’ll all fly by. The audio will bring you back in powerful ways. Enjoy the journey. It won’t be easy but nothing worthwhile is.

Breast feeding and military routine if you can. We read a book called my confident baby. We did not let anyone in first 10 days. Some call it milk moon iirc. It's very extreme and not for everyone. But we got the baby to sleep from 12 to 6 everyday in 3 weeks. And spend the day breastfeeding every 2 hours.
