Almost every single thing human beings do in some ways alters nature. Why should death be the limit where we stop shaping nature towards our ends?

not sure i understand what you are saying. do you mean, live long because we can do it? "towards our ends" that meaning humans? lol you have a very humancentric view of the earth. do you think humans dominate? do you think we are the top of the food chain and have dominion over all?

like i said humans have not been around very long on the historical timeline and there are other creatures who have adapted to the environment much better than we have. the shroom is magical humans are not!

We will live long because there are humans who decide that is a worthy end to work towards, and they have, over many generations, struggled (often against nature) to achieve this
