Almost every single thing human beings do in some ways alters nature. Why should death be the limit where we stop shaping nature towards our ends?

Yes but we are the only creatures (as far as we know) who are capable of shaping nature, growing aware of some of the feedback effects, and adjusting our actions accordingly. Nature does not care about us; what we perceive as adversarial we criticize because it affects other humans

Ah but we have done it in an adversarial way. Shaping nature towards our ends is a strange dynamic when we are part of it - just a node in it really form a complex flow network perspective. so what we do to it ultimately affects us also - it’s all circular

We will live long because there are humans who decide that is a worthy end to work towards, and they have, over many generations, struggled (often against nature) to achieve this

not sure i understand what you are saying. do you mean, live long because we can do it? "towards our ends" that meaning humans? lol you have a very humancentric view of the earth. do you think humans dominate? do you think we are the top of the food chain and have dominion over all?
