Sometimes I think the creator economy is fundamentally incompatible with solving “the loneliness problem” People use all this content — the vlogs, the podcasts — as a replacement for in person relationships I don’t have a house with a crowded table. So I fill my ears with commentators and creators

that’s why there has to be somewhat of a balance, go outside, see the world through your eyes and not theirs. All of those content unintentionally deepen loneliness But then again, you can feel isolated even in the midst of people. To each their own Finding balance is the journey we are all meant to take.

the inversion of this tho is having to interact regularly with millions of people who have never done the work of learning to live harmoniously with other people soooooo… 🤷‍♂️

agreed - there's also this modern narrative that friendship and relationships have to come easy that's just plain wrong and moves people down the laziness gradient until they're friendless and bedrot and consume comfort content all day. friendships and relationships are hard work and that's good; effort is rewarding.

Oof, I felt that last line in my heart. Even with a family with 3 kids I feel that I'm not doing enough to build irl community and waste too much of my free time being online.
