During extreme heat, women are more at risk due to physiological differences Older women die more than older men, and middle aged women are just as vulnerable as older men https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/09/240904130841.htm To conduct this study, researchers had older adults swallow a thermometer. “Before the experiment, participants swallowed a tiny device encased in a capsule that measured their core temperature throughout the experiment.”

Surprising, would have thought cardio health, body mass, or fitness would have made a bigger impact. I read these am always like, hmm wonder what their niacin, sodium, or potassium levels were and if that wood factor. Similar curiosity how different results would be if you took folks from different parts of the states in the summer. Would naturally expect those from the South to be able to better handle the heat.

Nice read, would love to know if race or location generally can affect heat tolerance. Would a constant exposure to the sun build you some kind of tolerance or would the skin being melanated reduce the heat you feel?
