I've been up to my eyeballs in React and I feel like I am being made to work harder than I would have to in other frameworks and moreover the only reason all of this is so popular is that because massive incomes are tied to it. I don't respect this.

React was a response to, if you can believe it, an even worse way of organizing your frontend code. The problem is that the issues that it solves for aren't really experienced by individuals but rather larger frontend codebases and because react is by Facebook that is what it targets. What are you building? I’m not a frontend dev by any stretch and the only frameworks that immediately clicked for me were Svelte and Astro (haven’t tried much Vue and Solid but hear those are good too). Reason being is they’re as close to vanilla HTML/CSS/JS you can get which I like. Happy to help if needed.

React is like democracy. Everyone knows it’s garbage but it happens to be better than alternatives (for now). NextJS is not the same, though.
