Recently was shared with me, something along the lines of: “Hating others is mainly an inconvenience for you - doesn’t affect others, it really just ruins your experience of the world”

I always think of animals shaking off stress/aggression - not holding on to anything. Humans dwell, ruminate, repress (until they’re aware enough to stop)

JVG (a basketball coach & announcer) had a quote similar to this that was something like: "The secret to happiness in life is finding joy in the success of others"

Yes to this, BG, July. 🇮🇹☕ Thank you. I heard it put more starkly, like: "Hating someone else, is like eating rat poison, daily, and expecting the rat to die...". Obviously, it neither harms the rat, nor does it care. It only harms myself. Therefore, forgiveness is actually rather selfish - and healthy.

We're the ones that have to live up there. There's nuance to it but generally "hating" is the same as caring is the same as any other type of attention, and as we know, thoughts become things. Focusing on hating tends to produce more of the hated things (big handwave)

I like how this perspective moves attention from others to oneself, replacing people-hate with self-care

Love that. I don’t know if it’s possible to not experience hate. But it doesn’t have to become a core part of you.

Anger has proven to increase focus and drive. On the other hand, I fully agree that forgiving is often more for the forgiver than the forgiven. Similar to love. Love is a fabulous emotion. When people are in love with us though, we feel nothing. Practicing appreciation is to strengthen our love muscle. It works
