Maybe it's not going crazy in a clinical sense, but being flooded with bots, and generated AI garble feels like you are in a latent and constant dream state. You're floating in a dream, and in this dream, anything and everything is possible. Sometimes its a great dream, sometimes its a nightmare. Anything is possible. But anything is possible? Evolutionarily, and intrinsically it seems like humans feel safe and get comfort from having a sense of where they are. In the real world, there is a finality to your environment, a sense of being able to trust your surroundings. When you reach out to a cup, that your cup will be graspable. In the online world, it feels like its slowly becoming the case. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen, but it does feel like there is a change in the tide in terms of how much content is going to be AI generated. It can make an image, an essay so much faster than humans (whether it is any good or not is a separate discussion) but it will undoubtedly dominate - then what?

i have a recurring thought that the whole world could have stopped for a million years and then like in hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy suddenly the mice get it all back in place and hit the Play button i think that thought often and i would never know a million years passed

The problem is the online world weโ€™ve derived today is a place for amnesia; long-term memory requires multimodal sensory experiential inputs Todayโ€™s internet is an enshittified fever dream of hell

it's been a concern for many years but it definitely feels as though it's accelerating. This was even the fear of asimov or herbert, with the robot wars and the butlerian jihad - the war against machines that can thing for themselves I think we'll start to see more closed, cozy communities where information is produced by trusted sources, for trusted community members, also preventing scraping for future training

Sometime I feel very fortunate to live in a country like Japan where I can see celebration of Robots and AI on the morning news and face the reality of a public office, where you need to sign a paper using your personal stamp ๐Ÿ’ฎ or send a fax to reserve a table at the restaurant. I mean, the only way to feel in contact with real life is a frugal life, lesser you need, better you live.

Fascinating convo, thanks for sharing. We are creating new *realities* here and being reflective while itโ€™s happening is rare, but useful. (Hegelian self-consciousness LG)

AI and bots are forcing me to real world interactions. Seeing less value in casual digital usage now thatโ€™s its full of nonsense.

"feels like you are in a latent and constant dream state. You're floating in a dream, and in this dream, anything and everything is possible. Sometimes its a great dream, sometimes its a nightmare. Anything is possible. But anything is possible?" --this is how I feel on a good day. On the other days I feel so uncomfortable in my body I can barely function. And this is without much interaction with AI-- I will turn into an ethereal blob before we know it, and I cant wait
