Parfit sort of has this idea too, that identity is nothing more than things having a certain relation to one another (Relation-R). Can be many to one.

I wonder how that divergence influences the design of AI and robotics. Is the West taking a default approach of building autonomous agents, whereas the East would rather conceive networked entities that operate as collaborative swarms? And is a speculative AGI really one single entity or more akin to a hive mind?

This seems to get into free will. If there is no free will, is there really a you, a self? Eastern meditative practices will challenge practitioners to find a self in order for the to understand that there is none. There are experiences, but no experiencooor independent of the experience.

Always bringing the brain juice @july ! As often when 2 extremes coexist, the truth draws from both A network of nodes with individual null utility has 0 utility A network of nodes with utility may have emergent behaviours greater than the sum of its parts

Central to our foundational epistemology and political philosophies as they were essentially born of rationalism in the west. And to my mind, flawed. Time for new Myths 🙇‍♂️
