The more I think about this, the more I think the burden of proof is on the West.

Yeah, I somehow doubt the takeaway from the Eleusinian Mysteries was "you are a discreet, independently existing, autonomous agent."

An interesting view point: if anything I’d say the point of divergence was more around Christianity / and subsequent fracturing of Christianity and rebellion in the form of Enlightenment that’s led us here. Many Classical Antiquity Greek philosophers would have whole heartedly agreed with this initial viewpoint imo
