I’d still like to synthesize, think deeply and articulate some things. Socials don’t encourage that and I have trouble resisting it.

I was looking at substack a couple days ago wondering if I should try making a second home there.

It ticks a lot of boxes. Not too frequent. Longer form. Less quippy stuff.

Does it feel like a community too?

Agree. Twitter/Farcaster has had a definite net positive impact on my life, but there is zero percent of me that thinks it’s something to look back on with pride. When I started my substack I didn’t really know why I was doing it or what to expect- it was just an experiment. I’ve been surprised at just how rewarding the experience as been so far. Highly recommend trying it out if you’re inclined.

I agree with that. I’ve met some cool people and with channels been able to share a bit more than I normally would.

I’m thinking through what the right balance between reading and writing to farcaster and other social networks is given what kinds of contents it incentivizes.

Right now I’m way overweighted on short form ephemeral thinking and writing. Many things I admire are only achievable with deep work.

how do u feel about fc from this standpoint? on a long enough timeframe, personally i think what i’ll remember most about this time/place is all the friends made + sharing across all areas of life for the first time, a more “real” digital picture of me

I’ve met many of my best friends through the internet over the last 10 years, mostly in niches that only very online people exist in for the most part lol

Of course there’s a LOT of irrelevant time spent in there but it’s been a net positive for me IMO

Paul has been quite repetitive about how it is also an excersice to distill ideas and think more clearly.
