its seems so obvious it will be a neutral negative shrug: “idk, it was new and you kinda needed to stay connected”

I can’t imagine linking to a collection of threads. It’s too ephemeral and shallow. Too stream of consciousness and disposable.

Agree. Twitter/Farcaster has had a definite net positive impact on my life, but there is zero percent of me that thinks it’s something to look back on with pride. When I started my substack I didn’t really know why I was doing it or what to expect- it was just an experiment. I’ve been surprised at just how rewarding the experience as been so far. Highly recommend trying it out if you’re inclined.

The way I use it, it does not feel like a community at all! And that’s how I want it. Others might have a different experience. 

I just want a place where I can write and have access to my past writings all in one place. It’s perfect for my use case.  Easy to use, low friction. I have a handful of subscribers and I’m grateful for them bc it helps keep me accountable, but I write completely for myself, if that makes sense. 

I’ve debated self hosting or moving to paragraph (just bc I want to support Colin/crypto alternatives) but I haven’t had catalyst to do it yet. Don’t overindex on the tool- just pick one and start writing. Having done it for a while now, I love having all these paragraphs in the vault. I might do nothing with them, or maybe they can become building blocks for something else in the future?

I was looking at substack a couple days ago wondering if I should try making a second home there.

It ticks a lot of boxes. Not too frequent. Longer form. Less quippy stuff.

Does it feel like a community too?
