not trying to make this a dunk, but an observation: it's funny that there's a lot of sentiment about "crypto people need to be on twitter to reach the masses" but very little sentiment about "crypto people need to be on [fb/insta/tiktok, other platforms >>> twitter] to reach the masses"

is there a real intuition here about the match between crypto communities and the *type* of platform that twitter/farcaster both are? or just a strange bias towards the 15th ranked social mediate site

Twitter is an upstream source of ideas in a way those others aren't. Big trad newspapers publish opinion pieces a week after the twitter debate happens. The other social media sites are more geared toward entertainment

I think it's more of a function of "where are the people between 16 - 25 mostly hanging out" who are open enough to get into Crypto Also understanding/associating social graphs is easier on Twitter I think

I think a lot of that narrative comes from the fact that twitter has been rebranded to this "last bastion of free speech" which is not really true, but that idealism for something more fair/transparent aligns with the crypto ethos.

talked with someone who is leading a huge NFT discord server. He does a lot of education via IG. I'll say the sentiment that twitter > above any other social media for crypto people just shows what bubble you are part of

I've thought about this as well... initially I even considered working to create a crypto 101 esque account on threads yet didn't find the time or energy. about the only ones active on the other socials are likely to be shitcoin shillers. reaching the masses requires effort, especially outside your native confines.

Crypto people are still on twitter so they can shill their bags to each other. Farcaster is still the best advertisement of what decentralization could be. Then again, I’m far more bullish on Farcaster as a protocol than I am anything related to twitter. Your point about Meta/TikTok is very sound though. 183 $degen

the other platforms require a different type of style/content approach to reach the masses in comparison twitter is pretty unhinged
