base is an open, decentralized, permissionless ethereum L2, running the same OSS OP Stack code as other chains (e.g. OP Mainnet, Zora Network) and providing consistent guarantees for users, developers, etc. 

we'll talking in a lot more details in the next few weeks as we come to mainnet — thanks for your patience!

I’ll ask just one last time, and if you don’t answer, then I’ll assume you’re specifically forbidden from doing so: what happens if tornado cash (or something like it) gets deployed to Base?

lots lots lots - i expect ENS will be the canonical naming service for the onchain world. really excited by what @farcaster is doing with letting ENS names work across the protocol (and giving users subdomains). same with coinbase and *.cb.id

i generally think that @vbuterin's thinking on stealth addresses and other privacy systems that can be built on the EVM (and into smart wallets) is the most likely path to mainstream privacy adoption in crypto at this point.

i expect the whole world will move onchain by the end of the decade. millions of developers, billions of users. will happen as a result of lots of useful onchain dapps, with chains/infra fading to background.

i hope to play my part in making that happen with @base!

How do you see the current crypto ecosystem evolving over the next 5-10 years, and what role do you hope to play in that evolution?

i expect that over the next 12mo it'll become seamless to transact across major op stack chains. the tech is already there to execute cross-chain actions relatively easily, just needs to be integrated through to wallets. 

with more time, it'll get more integrated into the chains, improving cost, security, trust.

how do you envision the ux of apps on L2’s built on op stack like base improving in the near future? right now it’s kinda clunky and takes too long to make a transaction

What do you think is why we should use farcaster

woof - i honestly am not sure. our discord is ~200k people and serves as a mix of broadcast (more of a fit), community building (more of a fit), and hands on support for developers & users (less of a fit). i'd love to see what a path might look like.
