negativity towards "airdrop farmers" is misplaced and biased. hundreds of thousands (millions?) of people all over the world have decided that doing microwork for protocols is their best path to economic prosperity. that is incredible and should be celebrated. it's on us to enable them to contribute positively.

note that this perspective does not include people who are fraudulently impersonating / simulating real users - I think this can and should be managed with sybill resistance tools. that said, our research suggests that this is a minority of this activity - there are tons of real human beings who want to contribute!

Airdrop farming for your own economic prosperity, good for you, but you better contribute to lubricating the machine that spit out the tokens for you or it's just extractive behavior that go around and suck everything dry

i'm conflicted, if air drop farming is all you can contribute, that's cool, up to the app and protocols to manage, but if you can do more but choose the other path feels bad...

I largely agree with this except when they are harassing teams and trying to game drops; Otherwise, I love how crypto has empowered so many bright minds from across the world.

Agreed 💯 with the caveat being, as long as the work (or micro work) is real value-additive, and not short term vanity signalling. I currently see a mix of both, but we must tilt further toward more higher quality work.

this is a based take. i was talking to someone the other day and said it comes from a place of privilege to look down(?) on people who are tryna play along the degen tipping game bc they don’t “need” the money, vs others playing the game who could definitely use the money(not everyone but most).

Good take. They are often doing crypto (and life) on hard mode— with little money to start with and in their second or third language.

Agreed. In web2 this is called customer acqui cost, which is mostly paid to google/fb type corps for ads. Here it goes to real ppl, I find that to be a win anyway.
