the culture + context of crypto has been so negative that it has made it so creators are terrified of even experimenting with the single most powerful economic technology we have invented — a coin that seems like something we need to fix, urgently.

Hey! Check out my new coin based on my vibe-coded game featuring original artwork and soundtrack - BizarreBeasts: Head Crush in the Farcade. I’ve been having a fun time making some coins 🪙 https://zora.co/coin/base:0x46e492c25c23f67ac7dceeb65194d9988fdf6d35?referrer=0x3FDD6aFEd7a19990632468c7102219d051E685dB

Totally agree. The coin is just a tool like a blog, like a video, like a Shopify store. We’re still early in figuring out the right creative formats for it. The risk is letting fear or culture kill the iteration before we even explore the canvas.

plenty of talented creators who tried experimenting in this space before now have already been convinced by being (for the most part) completely ignored, they reach the conclusion that their works have no value here: so they won’t experiment here any more (i’m one of them)

Appreciate this convo. Personally, one thing that made it tough was how Zora’s pivot toward coins felt abrupt — a lot of us as creators were left confused mid-process. I’m still excited about exploring what’s possible with blockchain, but it’s also real that “content = coin” right now feels skewed toward top players. Would love to see more thought into how the next wave of creators actually thrive here too.

Do you think that we need support shops to be established at strategic locations to fix the majority of the creators? Here's a suggestion for /zora to implement.... @incarterseyes.eth does it look ok? 😁 https://zora.co/coin/base:0x27460b0344eb035df6c43e7e6e1276f33657426d?referrer=0xbcd980d37293CBee62Bf5f93a26a0B744C18964D

how do we fix it? Almost all examples of coins tend to be a short moment of hype (if lucky) before going to 0. How do we actually leverage coins in a way that allows for value to accrue, for liquidity to stabilize in any meaningful way? The per transaction % cut can work, I understand that in theory, but in practice, it only benefits people who are successful in any medium based on existing brands. I think that's more of what turns creators away than the model itself - how the model actually works out in practice. Genuinely interested in how you see it playing out in a sustainable way for all levels rather than just the top % of people, because that's been the status quo for a long time

Not exactly. Yes, some creators are "scared" of minting fungibles. The stigma and potential blowback is real. But really it's because support has been so low that doing something perceived as risky is an easy no for many. Base has often used "for creators" in its marketing, but that's always been words without action. I believe I've mentioned this to you before, and I certainly told other team members how I felt. In fact, several members ghosted me during onchain summer about a project with 25+ artists. Onchain summer was explicitly marketed as "for creators." Eager to support @coinbrad.eth and turn things around

Yeah i feel that. we memed ourselves into thinking every coin = rug, when in reality, tokens are just tools. the tech isn’t the problem, the culture is.

Crypto's negative rep is holding back innovation. Creators should tap into the power of tokens without fear. Let's change the narrative.
